Positioning a rising damp device: preparing a useful plan
Illustrative image.
Draw the area before installation
Mark rooms, affected walls and principal dimensions. Add the intended device position. Even a simple plan helps avoid a choice based on one photograph or the floor area quoted in a property listing. Show below-ground spaces where relevant.
Compare the position with the manual
Check positioning and power requirements for the exact model. Do not reuse a height or distance specified for another reference without confirmation. Installation photographs illustrate examples; they do not replace the requirements in the appropriate manual.
Keep the position and monitoring accessible
Make it possible to inspect the installation and locate the same observation areas later. Record the installation date, subsequent moves and other work on the building. This traceability helps when discussing an unexpected evolution of the wall. Ask before changing a recommended position merely for convenience.
