ATG Geostop: the standalone unit that installs without an electrician

There are walls you would like to treat but where no socket is available: a second home closed half the year, a chapel, a plant room, a room with no permanent power supply. It is for these situations that Humidistop designed the ATG Geostop, a fully standalone cylindrical unit intended to treat rising damp with no electricity, no battery and no maintenance. When an earthed socket is accessible, Humidistop recommends its ATE range as a priority. When that connection is not an option, the ATG takes over with the same purpose: blocking the rise of water in the walls.

ATG Geostop

A passive geomagnetic process, with no wave emitted

The principle is simpler than it sounds. The device picks up the natural magnetic fields present in the building and returns a phase shifted counter field that blocks the capillary rise of water. Once that rise is blocked, the walls dry out through natural evaporation, gradually, at their own pace.

The technology is passive in the strict sense. The unit is made up solely of passive circuits: it contains no active electronic component and emits no electromagnetic wave. A reassuring point, particularly where children or animals live, since the device causes no harm to the health of people, animals or plants. No wire, no consumption, no part to replace, no maintenance to schedule.

ATG Geostop: the installation steps to follow

Fitting is quick and requires neither drilling nor building works, but it follows a precise procedure. Respecting these steps is what conditions the correct operation of the device.

  1. Fix the unit to a load bearing wall, at a height of between 1.50 m and 2 m from the floor.
  2. Keep a minimum distance of 1.50 m from any electrical source, with wall sockets as the exception.
  3. Orient the device towards the north, using a compass or a compass app on a smartphone.
  4. Clean the wall and check that the surface is clean and flat.
  5. Fix it firmly with strong double sided tape or a suitable adhesive, with no drilling at all.
  6. Once fitted, do not move the device again.
  7. Check that the range of the model does cover the area to be treated, by measuring the maximum diagonal of the property.

No connection is needed, and no electrician either. That is what makes the solution accessible in places where getting a tradesperson to come out would be an obstacle course.

Which model for which building

The range comes in three coverage levels, expressed as a diameter of action from the point of installation. The ATG LC15 covers 15 m in diameter. The ATG LC30 covers 30 m in diameter. The ATG MAX, the most powerful, covers 60 m in diameter, that is a radius of 30 m. The reasoning is geometric: measure the maximum diagonal of the area to be treated and make sure it fits within the diameter of action of the model you choose.

This standalone operation explains the profile of the buildings concerned: second homes, public buildings, agricultural buildings, plant rooms or listed premises, rooms with no socket, sites with no permanent electrical supply. The process has in fact been identified at institutional level, since the French Ministry of the Armed Forces highlighted the ATG Geostop solution in its request for Hôpital Bégin. Town halls and churches also feature among the buildings equipped by Humidistop, in Buzy, Bardos, Guiche, Labastidette and Ponsonnas.

After fitting: a gradual drying out

Once the unit is fixed and oriented, there is nothing more to do: the device works continuously, with no power supply and no adjustment. With rising damp blocked, the water held in the masonry escapes through evaporation and the wall dries out gradually. Results are generally visible within 18 to 24 months, depending on the specific features of the building and on how well the recommendations are followed.

Those recommendations deserve to be followed to the letter, because they help the drying process. It is advisable to strip back film forming renders at the base of the walls, which trap moisture instead of letting it evaporate, to ventilate the property properly, then to restore the walls with mineral anti salt renders, and to fit a drain in the event of lateral infiltration. Humidistop devices are specialised in rising damp: that is the precise phenomenon their action focuses on.

Does the unit require maintenance or replacement parts?

No. It works with no electricity, no battery and no maintenance, because it is made up solely of passive circuits. Once fixed to the wall according to the procedure, it no longer needs to be touched, and it remains covered by the 10 year manufacturer’s warranty.

Can you install an ATG Geostop yourself?

Yes, provided you follow the seven steps. The essentials come down to three points: a load bearing wall, a height of between 1.50 m and 2 m from the floor, and a northward orientation checked with a compass. It is fixed with strong double sided tape or a suitable adhesive, without the slightest drilling.

ATG Geostop: a standalone unit, designed and manufactured in France

When an earthed socket is available, the ATE range remains the priority recommendation from Humidistop. As soon as that connection is not possible, the ATG provides a coherent answer: a passive unit, with no wave emitted and no consumption, designed and manufactured in France in an ISO 9001 certified factory, covered by a 10 year warranty, sold at direct factory prices with no middleman, with payment available in 3 or 4 interest free instalments.
