Check what the product is designed for

Similar-looking boxes can serve very different purposes. Ask whether the product manages moisture in the air or is marketed for rising damp in masonry. Mould or loose paint alone does not determine which product is suitable. Consider possible water entry around the building as well.

Use the model’s own manual

Power supply, position, distances and restrictions must be checked in the manual for the exact reference. A convenient place beside furniture is not necessarily an appropriate installation position. Do not infer requirements from a promotional photograph or instructions for another model.

Address other sources separately

A leaking pipe needs repair. Water entering through a roof or façade needs an appropriate response to that defect. Persistent condensation calls for investigation of indoor conditions and ventilation. Where several mechanisms coexist, buying one device does not automatically address the whole situation. Ask for clarification before making a purchase based on a broad product name.
