A diameter is not a floor area
Rising damp device coverage should be considered alongside the actual building layout. A diameter given in metres is not a floor area in square metres. Total living space alone does not describe a long house, an extension or a separate outbuilding. Before comparing models, draw a simple plan with useful dimensions and mark the affected walls.
Map observations as well as rooms
Show internal walls, external walls and changes in level. Identify low damp marks, salts or flaking finishes without treating their appearance as a complete diagnosis. Add dates to the observations. A plan helps explain the situation to an adviser, but it does not replace an appropriate assessment when the source of moisture is uncertain or several causes may coexist.
Show the proposed position
Mark where the device could be installed and compare that position with the model instructions. ATE devices require mains power; ATG devices operate without an electricity supply. This distinction does not remove the need to check the exact model, its stated coverage and installation conditions. Do not transfer one product’s specifications automatically to the whole range.
Ask about spaces that raise questions
Include a detached garage, added wing or shared wall in your enquiry. Explain whether the building has several floors. Do not assume the entire property is covered because a room appears centrally located. Distances and layout support more useful questions than simply asking for a device that will dry every wall in a house.
Use the installation instructions
The customer installs the device using the instructions supplied for the chosen reference. Humidité Conseil provides product information and practical advice to help prepare positioning and mounting. Keep the manual with the device documents so it is easy to find if the room is reorganised later. Any change in position should remain compatible with the model’s installation requirements and stated coverage.
Compare the documented model
Consult the ATE and ATG product information and send your plan and questions through the Humidité Conseil contact page. The aim is to prepare a choice for an identified application. Devices intended for rising damp do not repair leaking pipes or resolve every possible cause of a damp wall.
